J. Ashley Nixon: Behind the Mask

Behind the Mask (Detrs de la Mscara) is a collection of photographs created during the filming of La Mscara y Ms (The Mask and More), a documentary about the Huaconada of Mito. UNESCO globally recognized this ancient dance from Peru for its Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2010. Along with interviews and other locally gathered information, Behind the Mask (written in English and Spanish) is a narrative about some of Mitos people, their costumes and rituals that keep the Huaconada as a living tradition and a fabulous component of Perus rich and diverse cultural identity.

Detrs de la Mscara (Behind the Mask) es una coleccin de fotografas creadas durante la filmacin de La Mscara y Ms, un documental sobre la Huaconada de Mito. La UNESCO reconoci mundialmente esta danza antigua de Per por su Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial en 2010. Junto con entrevistas y otra informacin recopilada localmente, Detrs de la Mscara (escrita en ingls y espaol) es una narracin sobre algunas de las personas de Mito, sus disfraces y rituales que mantienen la Huaconada como una tradicin viva y un componente fabuloso de la rica y diversa identidad cultural del Per.
