The Sennheiser EW-D 835-S SET, which includes a handheld microphone and the MMD 835 mic capsule, offers exceptional 24-bit digital audio quality along with a remarkable dynamic range of 134 dB. It features an equidistant tuning grid and an automated Bluetooth setup application for mobile devices, making it a highly accessible professional rackmount wireless microphone system. While the system is designed for straightforward installation and user-friendly operation, its advanced features are tailored to meet the requirements of both novice and seasoned users. This includes presenters and educators in business and academic environments, clergy in places of worship, and live performers in theatrical or musical venues.
The ultrawide dynamic range of the EW-D eliminates the necessity for input-sensitivity adjustments on the transmitter. Drawing from the advanced technology of the company’s Digital 6000/9000 wireless systems, the equidistant tuning grid simplifies frequency coordination, allowing for the simultaneous operation of up to 90 microphone channels. The UHF transmission significantly extends the operational range to 330 feet, while the expansive 56 MHz bandwidth facilitates the selection of a clear channel from a pool of 2240 available frequencies.
Intelligent Switching Diversity provides robust protection against RF interference, and the remarkably low latency of 1.9 milliseconds ensures that there is no perceptible delay during live performances. Furthermore, Bluetooth connectivity allows for effortless pairing and remote control via the Smart Assist App on your mobile device. These features enable the EW-D to automatically manage microphone levels and secure the most reliable signal within seconds, alleviating the common challenges associated with wireless systems.
The EW-D 835-S SET includes a single-channel EW-D EM receiver, an interchangeable MMD 835 dynamic cardioid microphone capsule designed for optimal vocal clarity, and a durable, lightweight EW-D SKM-S handheld transmitter with a switch, featuring a metal casing that is ideal for regular stage use.
The transmitter connects to the receiver using Bluetooth Low Energy, allowing for a pairing distance of up to 120 feet. This feature enables the microphone to be paired directly from the stage without the need to bring it close to the receiver. The transmitter operates for up to 8 hours on two AA batteries or for 12 hours when using the BA 70 lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack, which is sold separately. To charge the BA 70 batteries, the L70 USB dual-charging station is required and is also available separately.
The half-rack EW-D EM receiver, equipped with removable antennas, is constructed from a durable all-metal chassis designed to endure the demands of professional environments. It can be placed on a tabletop or mounted in a rack, making it suitable for both portable setups and permanent audio/visual installations.
This receiver is equipped with a high-contrast black-and-white OLED display that features an intuitive menu system, complete with a dedicated Escape button for efficient navigation, even in dim lighting. The auto-scan function automatically identifies the clearest available frequency. Additionally, users have the option to configure, control, and operate their system via Bluetooth through the Smart Assist App, which can be installed on iOS or Android devices, within a range of 120 feet.
Note:The EW-D digital system is NOT backward-compatible with previous evolution analog systems.
The MMD 835 dynamic capsule is designed with a cardioid polar pattern, effectively reducing background noise and feedback. Its durable all-metal transmitter features a mute button that can be disabled and controlled remotely from the receiver or a mobile device during performances. The transmitter establishes a Bluetooth connection with the receiver at distances of up to 120 feet with a simple button press. Additionally, the interchangeable capsule design of the transmitter allows for the use of various optional dynamic and condenser microphone capsules, offering pickup patterns that range from wide omnidirectional to narrow supercardioid. Notable capsules include the MMD 845, MME 865, MMD 935, MMD 945, MMD 42, MM 435, ME 9004, MD 5235, ME 5004, and Neumann KK204, among others.
The EW-D EM receiver features user-friendly front-panel controls and a high-contrast OLED display that provides meters for RF levels, battery status of the connected transmitter, and audio output, facilitating effortless setup. Its auto-scan function automatically identifies the clearest available frequency. The rear panel includes a balanced XLR output and an unbalanced 1/4″ output, allowing for direct connection to any PA system or mixing console. Additionally, the two detachable 1/4-wave dipole antennas located at the back of the unit can be upgraded to enhance RF performance. The device is supplied with a rackmount installation kit and a universal power supply that includes adapters for EU, US, and UK regions.
