Vello LHC-ET101 Overview

The dedicated Vello ET-101 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon’s RF 800mm f/11 IS STM lens. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The bayonet mount is designed to also work in the reversed position, allowing the hood to be placed backwards over the lens for a more compact storage solution.

It’s plastic but I’d rather damage this than my lens. Didn’t want to spend twice as much for the Canon. Fits perfectly and does the job.

Purchased for RF 800 to block stray sunlight and provide lens protection. This does the job for a lot less than the canon version which was not in stock anyway. It fits well and is easy to put on and take off, ie., turn it the direction needed for use or storage.

Didn’t want to spend as much as the Canon hood costs for a relatively inexpensive lens, so I tried this one. Can’t tell any functional difference, so this is a good value.

The better hood alternative for the RF 800.

I was very happy to see offer this Vello hood. It works well and is reversible on the RF 800. Far less expensive than the Canon hood (which in IMO should be standard with the lens).
