Westcott continues to innovate with the launch of the FJ400 400Ws Strobe featuring an AC/DC battery. This model of the flash head is equipped with a power cord and plug specifically designed for use in the United States and North America. It boasts a rapid recycling time of just 0.9 seconds at full power, which is particularly noteworthy for a battery-operated light. The device offers a versatile 9-stop power range, making it suitable for various scenarios, complemented by features such as High Speed Sync, Rear Curtain Sync, and TTL functionality. In terms of TTL, the FJ400 radio receiver is compatible with a wide array of cameras, including those from Canon, Nikon, Sony (with an adapter), FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, and Olympus, as well as the Canon RT flash system. By separately acquiring the FJ-X2m Universal Wireless Trigger, users can adjust power and exposure compensation from distances of up to 985 feet. The wireless system is equipped with 32 channels and six groups to minimize interference from other photographers and facilitate multiple individual setups.

The FJ400 is equipped with a robust, detachable 14.8V, 4400mAh lithium-ion polymer battery, capable of delivering 480 full power flashes and thousands of low-power flashes after a 2.5-hour charge. The battery features LED status indicators to inform users of the remaining charge. For minimal power consumption, a 20W LED modeling light is utilized. Additionally, when operating in a studio environment, the flash head can be powered by AC current using the included adapter. The FJ400 comes with a magnetic 5.5″ reflector and three CTO filters, allowing for compatibility with other lighting fixtures, adjustment to warm ambient light conditions, or creative lighting effects. A magnetic diffusion filter is also provided to soften the light output, along with an insert for compatibility with any of Westcott’s Rapid Box Switch softboxes. Furthermore, a custom-designed travel case is included for convenient storage and transportation.
